John Ballantyne (a former high ranking official in Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters) has filed suit against the national leadership of union. The claimant claims that the trusteeship was placed on the local council in May 2018 to cover Laufenberg’s corruption and that the national leadership approved the move. The case names a number of people, including McCarron and Eastern District vice-president Michael Capelli.
